This was our first shoot, believe it or not, at the American Tobacco Campus. We had explored the site during the Frill Seekers Bazaar at the Ball Park last December and liked it a lot. The only problem was that on this evening, the DPAC had a show with Neil Young, and parking was a nightmare.
Jocelyn & Earl are a very fun couple, as you will be able to see in some of these pictures. I am really looking forward to capture their best moments during their wedding. The weather was like another one of those cool North Carolina spring evenings, I love it when I can “hustle” to get my pictures in and don’t have to break a sweat, ha!
I had talked to a Security Officer for the Campus because he was asking what I was taking pictures of. I told him that I was here to take pictures of an engaged couple, a so called engagement session. He was fine with it, as long as I was taking pictures of the couple and not the site! Ah, okay, thank you sir, I will make sure of that.
About a half an hour later, he interrupted our shoot, telling us that we were operating in an area that was not for the public. So, we moved on and changed the scenery a little, still in his jurisdiction, though. Not five minutes later, we were in trouble again, this time he told us that we should have gone and get a badge from management. I was trying to remind him of what he told me earlier, his response was that he thought I was with the other wedding photographer that was taking pictures at the same time. I had seen Daniel Pesta and an assistant with a bride and a groom running around when we got on site. Anyway, we were somehow able to talk our way out of this one (Thanks Gina and Jocelyn!) and he granted us the finishing of the shoot., which we did extensively. Note to self: If planning on shooting at the American Tobacco Campus, get a badge from management!
